OPUNAKE-MOTUROA RAILWAY.
APPRECIATION OF MEMBERS' ACTION. . When the telegram from the ActingMayor of New Plymouth (Mr. W. ACollis) in connection with the deletion of the Opunake-Moturoa railway line was read at the meeting of the Egmont County Council yesterday, the chairman (Cr. W. R. Wrighti stated that he had wired Messrs. C A. Wilkinson and S. G. Smith, M.'P.'s on the subject because he considered that it was a matter of great importancfc to the wtiole district. If put through, he was satisfied that it would cut down their rates considerably, as it would take the heavy traffic that now went along the roads by motor lorry. He thought the least they could dn was to pass a vote of thanks to Messrs. Wilkinson and Smith for their actions in the matter. He therefore moved in that direction. Cr. Young seconded. Cr. O'Brien said that while the district from Rahotu might be interested in the Moturoa railway, the district as a whole was not interested, the Upu-nake-Te Roti railway being far more important than the New Plymouth line. He did not grudge Rahotu getting its railway, but his portion of the County wis not interested. The motion was carried. ssja
