Whilst on a tour over the battlefields of France in July last. Mr. McPherson, the State Treaanrev for Victoria (Australia), met a.sain the veteran General Pan. who led the French mission to Australia last year. The meeting took place at Saint Mihiel, and Mr. McPherson took the opportunity of publicly reiterating in France the assurances which had already been given to General Pan in Australia of the warm and friendly feeling in which France is held by Australians. General Pan, in responding, showed that he had not forgotten the reception tendered to him in Australia. He asked that an expression of everlasting gratitude be conveyed to Australia. The Anzacs, who had made the Australian flag known to the people of France, and who had mixed with them, would never be forgotten. He made a plea for better commercial relations between the two countries, and added that though he was too old to say he would return to pay another visit to Australia, younger representatives of his country would do it, and so renew the friendships between the two peoples.
