WOMAN'S "OBEY".

U.S. MARRIAGE SERVICE CHANGES. A New York correspondent says that the elimination of the word "obey" from the marriage service is only one of the revolutionary changes in the authorised practices of the Protestant Episcopal Church which are recommended by the Commission on Revision and Enrolment of the Book of Common Prayer in its report for presentation at the Church Convention. The proposal to abolish the woman's promise to obey is the result of protests which have been gathering strengtli throughout the country for many years. Some ministers have refused to use the term. v Another proposed change relates to the bridesroom's statement, "With all my worldly goods," it being held that the law safeguards dower rights and that in modern practice the words have been stripped of meaning- A suggestion to introduce intinction into the Communion service is certain to be fought by Low Churchmen, even though the recommendation is made in the interests of hygiene. Intinctiflh consists of dipping the 'consecrated wafer jn the wine instead of the communicant drinking from the cup.
