The Senate rejected Senator La Folette's amendment deleting the Labor agreement from the Peace Treaty by 47 voteg to 34. Senator Reed, discussing the reservations in the treaty, said they were the last resort of cowards. Reservation was the crack' in the fence through •which a hound dog always tries to escape, but the mastiff iTghta and neither crawls nor cringes. Some Senators, •however, had got their heads in a crack and were unable to fight or run away. The Vice-President (Mr. Marshall) called Senator Seed to order for insulting language.
