After discussion, in which most of the committee took part, it was decided to call a public meeting to discuss the question of establishing a technical day school in Eltham. A letter was received from the Borough Council granting a picture Irenefit night on about November 27. We are beginning to take a real interest in the elections now, and meetings of the various parties are held and committees set up. The Liberal League met on Tuesday night, and the usual routine work was gone through, a strong committee being set up to assist Mr. Astbury. Mr. Hawken opened his campaign here to-night. There was a good attendance, and the candidate received an attentive hearing. Question time was lively and good humored, a fair number of questions being put, and answered by the candidate, most of them in connection with labor. Few women can resist the magic words "new fashions", and you will be thoroughly delighted at the summer millinery now exhibited at Shipton'3.
