THE AMERICAN ARMY.
A SERIOUS CHARGE MADE. DISCIPLINE OF OFFICERS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 5,11.55 p.m. Washington, Nov. 4. In the Senate, speaking on a measure recommending changes in the American court-martial, Senator Chamberlain alleged that officers who dare to criticise their superiors in the American Army usually lost promotion. Mr. Baker (Secretary for War) warmly repudiated the charge, alleging that Senator Chamberlain was lying. Senator Chamberlain retorted that even the Judge Advocate General lost his position owing to a disagreement with Mr. Baker himself.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
