The first municipal elections in Stag' land since 1012 were held on Saturday, when the polling was small There Ware 3000 candidates, of whom many were women, for the 1362 seats in th« 28 London boroughs. Incomplete returns show many Labor gains. The results In London are available In only eight out of 28 boroughs. There has been a remarkable Labor victory by an absolute majority in six boroughs. Thirty-two women so far have been elected. The provincial returns ate very incomplete. Labor grins extensively at the expense of both Conservatives and liborals, but the effect on the councils Ist limited, as only one-third is elected annually.
