PERSIA'S TASK.
SPEECH BY KING GEORGE, VISIT OF THE SHAH. ADMIRATION OF GREAT BRITAIN. By Telegrapfr.<»-Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 3, 7.25 p.m. London, Nov. 1. The Shah of Persia has arrived in London.—Aus.-N.Z- Cable Assn. Received Nov. 4, 12,15 a.m. London, Nov. 1.
The State Banquet to the Shah of Persia was a remarkable gathering. Among those present were Royalties, statesmen and their wives, soldiers, sailors, and other notables.
King George, in a most cordial speech, said that the relations of Britain and Persia were closer than ever before. The two nations were about to embark upon a collaboration in the field of material and administrative progress, which would ensure Persia a future not unworthy of its famous past. The Shah, speaking in French, said: "The liberal institutions of the British Empire have always exercised a powerful attraction upon me. One of the chief objects of my visit is to personally study them. Persia, by tradition and position, is called to aid in the establishment of order and progress in the Middle East, but it is hoped the Western democracies will assist."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
