A LAUNCH IN PERIL.
ROUGH WEATI-lER PREVENTS RETURN. ONLY ONE DAY'S FOOD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. Hie launch Kingfisher, reported overdue with a crew of four men 011 board, was located to-day at anchor oft' the coast, six miles south of Wanganui, by the Home steamer Tropic. The crew of the launch signalled that the little vessel was disabled through losing her rudder. °
Up to to-night the sea has been too lough for coastal steamers to go to her (rescue, but the Tropic is"now standing by, and as the weather is moderating it is expected the launch crew will soon be taken off.
_lt has been ascertained that when the Kingfisher left on a fishing trip last Thursday there was only a day's provisions on board, and it is thought the crew have suffered considerable privations..
The Home steamer Karamea, which put to sea in company with the Tropic or Sunday night on account of the tempestuous weather, is still keeping out in the straits. '
