NAVY MATTERS.

TOTALS OF CAPITAL SHIPS,

ADMIRAL JELLICOE'S TOUR,

NO JUTLAND INQUIRY.

By Telegraph.—Press Asan.*-rCopyrlght.

Received Nov. 1, 1.25 a.m.

; London, Oct. 29. In the House -of Commons, answering Lord Curzon, Mr. Long stated that capital lahips in full commission were as follows: United States, 28; France, possibly 6; Japan, 16; Italy, 7; Britain, 18. In the House of Commons, Commander Kenworthy asked the cost of Admiral Jellicoe's tour and whether a battle cruiser was necessary. Mr. Long said the New Zealand's tour cost £89,225 more than if she remained in home waters in full commission. It was absolutely of first importance that the Government's representative, who was trying to lay the foundation of a real Imperial Navy, should make the tour in such a vessel.

Mr. Long announced that no inquiry into the Jutland battle was contemplated. He added that an important document relative to the battle was missing.—Aus.« i N.Z. Cable Assn.
