DEATH OP MR. J. COLVIN. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent) Wellington, Last, Night. The House adjourned suddenly at 10.45 p.m. on Mr. Massey's motion after news had been received of the death by accident of Mr. J. Colvin, member for Buller, and senior member of the House. Mr. Massey said that he felt the proper thing was to adjourn, even if this course involved some prolongation of the session. Mr. Colvin was killed outside the gates of Parliamentary Buildings through being run over by a tram. He had just left the House and his death was a painful shock to members. FURTHER DETAILS. Wellington, Later. Mr. James Colvin, M.P. for Buller, was knocked down by a tram-car shortly after 10 o'clock to-night and killed! The deceased attempted to cross Featherston Street ahead of an approaching tram-car, but was struck and thrown clear of the line. Doctorg were summoned and pronounced life extinct. From the appearance of the body death is believed to have resulted from concussion. Sir Joseph Ward, and Messrs: 6. Witty and R. McCallum, MP.'s, wno were personal friends of the deceased, arranged for the removal of the body to the mortuary chapel.
