THE MAYORESS.
A PRESENTATION SUGGESTED.
"A Soldier's Mother" writes:—"May 1 ask if anything is ieing done to publicly recognise Mrs Burgess' good worfc among us in reference to our soldiei* sons. She has given ug of he! best, and I am sure cheered many a weary heart, by her kind and sympathetic ao' tions while Mayoress of our town. X am willing and anxious to give my shari towards anything that may be decided upon to acknowledge in some way ont appreciation of her good work. She i 4 one of God's own in this our fair lanA (God's own country). If nothing ha 3 been done, I would suggest that thtf ladies of Now Plymouth and surrounding districts call a meeting and there decide what form of presentation is to take place. It would be a disgrace to us to allow Mrs Burgess to retire without some recognition of her valuable services."
