At Wahvakaiho on 15th inst. I conducted my annual bull fair, about 170 bulls of all classes being penned. This year's catalogue displayed the breeding of a good selection of the Jersey, Sb.orthorn and Frlesian breeds, attracting the attention of those in search of well-bred cattle from oil parts of Taranaki, also from outside districts, as far as Hawke's Bay and the W«l----kato. As evidenced throughout the past seaion, the Jersey being in most demand was again particularly noticeably thta breed being well represented in numbers, both pedigrees and .grades. every boast selling at the nami.au. allowing signs of their long journey nnd" a rcugh winter, made excellent sales. The Shortpoms and Frlealans yarilod wero quite up to tuo standard of previous years as for as tho breeding .was concerned, but they were hard to |guit. Pedigree Jerseys realised as follows: ( Two and 3-year-olds on account of Mr. C. 'Goulter 21 to 80fms; on account Mr. A. Hodgkinson, 1 3-year bull 65gns, yearling and 2-year-olds 17 to 70gns. On account of other vendors: 5-year bulls 45gns, 3-year do. 51 to 80gns, 2-year do. 28 to 60gns, yearling do. 17 to 80gns, bull calf 18gns j Pedigree Shorthorns: Yearliug and 2-year-olds 9 to 3Ggns, yearling do. 27gns; pedigree FrLeslans: Aged bull 17gns, 2-year-old do. 13 ta JSgns, yearling do. 27gns; yearling pedigree Ayrshlres 5 t0 B%gos; grade Jerseys 7 to 20%gns; Shorthorns 6 to 23gnsj Prieslans 6 and 7gns; Ayrshires 10%gns. At ray Waiwakaiho yards on 16ih Inst. I conducted a dispersal sale of pedigree Jersey* on account of Mr. A. HodgUinson, of Nelson; also 6 few head on account of other local vendors, Messrs. H. J*. Lepper, C. Ruebe, and J. Lobb. attended in strong numbers from all parts of Taranaki. The cattle eventually were well distributed,a most successful sale throughout resulting. Prices realised as follows: On account Mr. A. Hodgkinson: Cows 41 to 150 gns, 2-year heifers 33 to 90gns; yearling do 27 to 45gns, heifer calves 25 to 27gns, bu calves 7 and llgns; on account Mr. Leppw. Cows 22 to TGgns, 3-yoar heifers 35gm, 2-yeni' do. 30 to 42gns; on account Mr. Ruebe: heifev calf, one month old, 57gns; on account Mr. Lobb: Cow, 40gns. A few head of grade JetBoy cows on account of Mr. Hodgkinson made £l7 to £32. At Waiwakaiho on lTlh Inst. I had a fair yarding of cattlo, most of which sold at the hammer. Yearling Jersey heifers, small, £6, Holstelns £4 17s Gil, 15-month heifers £5 17s 6d, yearling std&rs £3 10s to £3 17s t!d, 2year steers £0 Bs, 2-year Jersey empty hollers £9 ss, other sorts £7 19s to £8 7s, smaller do. £5 to £8 Bs, store cows £0 to £7 12s fid, Jersey bull £« oalry cattle were penned In fair numbers, .well grown and forward aorta selling well. Holfors made up to £l6 ss, cows £l2 to £lB. At Stratford on 17th Inst. I hold my annual bull fair, about 120 bulls of all classes coming forward. The quality throughout was not of a very high standard, most of the pedigree Jerseys sold, but Shorthorns and Frleslans i were not In demand. Pedigree Jerseys realised from 10 to Signs, Frleslans 11 to 13gns, Shorthorns 8 to 31gns, grade Jerseys £8 to £l9 19s, Frlenlan £9 to £l2, Shorthorns £B- - £1?.
