The Dinoga, the second of the 5500ton steel steamers built to the order of the Federal Government, has been launched from Walsh Island. A NEW SHIPPING LINE. " rr; Sydney, October 18. A new shipping line between Italy and Australia has been formed. H will be known as the Lloyd Sabando Line and consists of a fleet of car»d vessels Tunning every two months. ° A TOTAL WRECK. Sydney, October 18. The crew of the stranded steamer Tambo have arrived. They state that the vessel will probably become a total wreck. DEFENCE EXPENDITURE. Melbourne, October 18. The report of the Economy Commission, which has been inquiring into public Service matters, recommended that until conditions enable a definite policy to ba laid down all expenditure on military activities be suspended, and that there be a discontinuance of expenditure on all naval works except to protect, existing property until the future naval policy is laid down.
