WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). Oct. 10. Tho annual ton. and entertainment of the Presbyterian Sunday School, which took place in tho Clifton Hall on Tuesday evening, was an unqualified success. More than 400 people sat down to tea, and tho ladies who were looking after this department had a very busy time. Tho concert was equally successful, the hall being full. Tho contributors to the programme, which was a remarkably gooa one, were: Pianoforte solo. Miss Mallow; songs, Misses Bae and Jonos, Messrs Bellrlnger and Weir; solos, Sir. Murphy (flute), Mr. Whtttington; recitations, Mr. Hartman; pianist, Mrs. Marlow. Most of the Items were encored. The ladies who were in charge of tho tea were: Mcsdames Blair, Muschamp, Moyea, McKenzle, Perkins, Gunna,. Bird, Blanchard, Misses D. Hingley, Fulton, Bullot (3), Hill, Sutherland, and Rawe. The tables wore decorated by Mrs. Muschamp and Miss Sutherland. Mr. Parry, who arranged the curtain effects on the stage, is to be congratulated on tho striking results produced. The committee desire to thank Messrs W. Buchanan and Chittenden for gifts, and Mr. H. Surpdle for assistance In the tearoom. Before tho singing of the National Anthem, which closed the performance, a vote ot thanks to the performers was carried by acclamation.

A, meeting of the Waitara Repatriation Committee was held last night. There were present: Messrs. Morgan (chairman), T. Taylor, H. Pigott, A. Hine, Rev. Gavin, G. Huso and H. O. Bichardson. Two applications for loans of £SO for furniture were considered, one being held over for further enquiry, and the other not entertained. The matter of a loan of £l9O for furniture and sundries was left In the hands of the Executive Committee to deal with. It has been decided to hold a ball in the freezing works cooling chamber on 6th and TtU November next in aid of the funds of the two seaside societies and the tennis club.
