. A London cable records the death of Mr Norman Craig, M.P. A Washington message says that Mr. Gompers, the American Labor leader, is ill. He .is suffering from a serous breakdown. Mr T. M. Blackball, of Lepperton, heV left for Wellington en route to Europe. Mr Blackball expects to be absent fromthe Dominion for about twelve months. Mr H. j. M.-Wells, who for nearly twelve years has been associated Vith the well-known firm of Hallenstein Bros, for the greater part of , which time he has been manager of the New Plymouth' branch of the business, has severed his connection with the firm in order to go into business on his own account. Mr Wells has purchased a business of a similar character in Hswera, and will be removing there about the middle of. next month. In addition to his busi-' ness connection with the town Mr Wells has been associated with a number otlocal activities, and as a violinist of no mean merit he has given valuable as-. Bistance to many deserving causes. Sis many friends here will regret his de- ■ parture from the town. ,
