A PADRE'S PICTURES.

WITH THE TROOPS IN PALESTINE. There was a large audience at Whiteley Hall last night,, when the Rev. H L. Blaniires, of Wanganui, gave an illua trated lecture dealing with the doing 3 of the New Zealand Moiifuteti Rifles )i> Palestine. Mr. Blamires was a chaplain with the forces, and his lecture waa based on first-hand experience of the work in the Egyptian campaign. By the aid of about 100 'beautiful lantern slides, the lecturer carried his audience over the ground covered by the New Zealand boys, and the story of the operations, told in Mr. Blamires' inimitable style, gripped and held the attention of the audience from start to finish. The story of the endurance of both men and horses in what is apt to be considered ,as merely an incidental part of the great campaign, was very impressive, and those who heard it cannot fail to have a keener appreciation of the work carired out by the armies that fought their way across desert lands. The concluding portion of the lecture embraced a few views in connection with operations about Flenrbaix and Messines, i» which the New Zealanders took a prominent part. At the end of the lecture Mr. Blamires was accorded a very warm vote of thanks for his services.
