HAWERA TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL.

A * * meeting of the- Hawera Technical'J High School Committee on Tuesday (reports the Star) strong comments wera made relative to the delay over the approval of the plans of the new school,, and correspondence was read between the chairman, the Director of Education and members for Egmont and Patea. Dissatisfaction was emphasised on account of the Government havinf voted an extra £SOOO for the Stratford Technical (School, while Hawera eould get no finality as to the amount to be granted. The point was raise* as to whether the plans of Mr La Trobe or those of the Board's overseer b*4 been sent to the Department, Mr Sage stating there was no doubt that the Board's plans had been sent, these being similar to the Stratford plana. Be also said that the committee wa» not fighting the Board, but only trying W expedite the erection of the school. Eventually it was decided to tend ft deputation to the Premier and to nott« fy the Board of the committee's intttt* tion. It was considered necessary to? have the question of the plans, and tbi additional grant required to bring tW amount up to £12,000, settled before the Estimates were brought down, od they would not get their school tbii year.
