NOLAN AND CO.'S HIDE SALE. HIGH PRICES REALISED.
The first hide sales held since June took place yesterday. Tanners and exporters were fully represented. The former took full advantage of the privileges granted them by the Gazette of October 2, which allowed them to select all calfskins 1-Olbs weight and under, and 50 per cent, of all other hides offered at prices fixed by the Gazette referred to. The following are some of the prices realised by Nolan and Co. for hides and yearlings sold to exporters. Prices in parenthesis are those paid by tanners under the schedule, the others being that which exporters paid for balances. Cows, first quality, up to freezing works standard, light 30d (I2d), heavy 27d (I2d); first quality, not washed, light, 21>M>d (lid), heavy 22y a d (lid) ; second quality 2Gd (10% d), heavy 22% d (10% d).
Ox.—Washed, light 33>,id, medium 25% d (12% d), heavy 24% d (13% d) ; second quality, extra light light 24d (10% d), medium 23% d (ll%d), heavy 22d.(12&d). Yearlings.—Light 34% and 27% d (13V&d) ; cut, washed 36U; heavy, 30d (HM-d); washed, 34% d (13d).
Calf hides were all taken at schedule prices at from 2Ud to 24d. None were offered by auction.
