The Arbitration Court was asked today whether it was prepared to hear an application for an amendment 01 vne Federated Boot Trades Dominion award regarding an increase of war bonus. The Court agreed to hear the application at Wellington on November 25tn. The Court states that the original agreement between the parties that no in. crease should be asked for during ths currency of the award would not be allowed to stand in the way. ESCAPE OF A PRISONER. Wanganui, Oct. 13. James Joseph Boyce, 18J years old, escaped from the local gaol yesterday and is still at large. Boyce was arrested from the steamer Regulus on a charge of breaking and entering. jtfORE HOUSES FOE CHRISTCHURCH. Christchurch, Last Night. . The City Council to-night accepted a scheme for the acquisiton of sufficient land for the erection of at least 200 houses. A proviso was made for the sales of the houses when erected on easy terms spread over a varying period of years to suit the circumstances of applicants. It was stated the expenditure involved was between £150,000 and £200,000- There was plenty of land Within easy access of Cathedral Square which could easily fill the bill.
