ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BOY'S SHOCKING DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland. Oct. 11. An orphan boy named Roy BaKer, aged 13, died at the hospital from injuries caused through falling into a washing copper of boiling water at St. Joseph's Orphanage, Takapuna. ACCIDENTS IN AUCKLAND. Auckland. Last Night. ■ A fatal accident occurred last night in the motor garage of Pullan and Arniilage when Leonard Hammoi'd. garage manager, was killed instantly. The deceased, with two others, was cutting timber with a circular saw when a heavy, hardwood wedge got caught in the saw and was thrown with great force, striking Hammond on-the forehead. His head was terribly injured. Dei-eased was a married man with tjvo children. A motor cycle and side car containing three persons skidded in Ponsonby this morning arid struck a tramway centre pole. One of the occupants, Gordon Spinier, aged 20 years, received a fractured skull and other injuries and is in a critical state. Harold Brinsden, aged 20 years, was rendered unconscious but is not seriously injured. A young lady who was in the side ,car escaped with shock and bruises.
