FIUME.
SERIOUS INTERNAL SITUATION. ! V ' THE ARMY DEFIANT, By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received Oct. 12, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 11. The Australian Press Association understands that D'Annunzio's filibustering is causing a serious internal situation. The majority of the army is defying the Government. King Victor has intimated his intuition to abdicate if sedition continues. Signor Nitti is helpless to remove D'Annunzio from Fiume, and he has recognised that the army would revolt if ordered to march .on Fiuiue. Such a revolt might speedily become a revolution. It is inconceivable that lving Victor would consent to D'Annunzio forming a Government, in view of his defiance, not only of the Italian Government, but of the Paris Conference.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ■ SITUATION MORE GRAVE. REBEL LEADER IN COMMAND. Received Oct. 12, 11.35 p.m. London, October 11. A Swiss telegram to the Daily Mail states that the Fiume situation has increased in gravity. D'Annunzio handed over the military control to the rebel general Ceccherini, a distinguished war leader who lately resigned command of an army corp at Florence and issued a manifesto renouncing his oath of loyalty. The police suppressed his manifesto. Further Government negotiations with D'Annunzio failed.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MINING THE PORT. Received Oct. 12, 5.5 p.m. Rome, Oct. 11.
