FORETELLING THE FUTURE.

MAGISTRATE SUPPORTS FORTUNE TELLER. By Telegraph —Press Assn.—(opyright. Received Oct. 12, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 11. A surprising decision given by Mr. Bankes, the South-West London Magistrate, upsets a traditional attitude of the Courts towards fortune tellers. A woman, who charged four shillings for consultation, held a bracelet to the forehead and described future happenings, which she pleaded spirits predicted. The woman stated she had studied spiritualjpn for 20 years. Mr. Bankes, in dismissing the charge, said: "I cannot say whether it is possible to foretell the future, but I am convinced the accused believes she possesses that power. Therefore there is no intention to deceive." The decision will probably be chal-lenged.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
