BOWLING.
The- Hawera Club opened its season on Wednesday in perfect weather. Visitors were present from all round Mount Egmont, and the usual match, president's rink against vicepresident's, resulted in a win for the latter bv 181 to 128. Mr. and Mrs. Foy entertained the club and visitors most hospitably. The Manaia Club hold Its annual meeting on Monday last, when Mr. G. D. Gee was elected president for the ensuing, year. A number of new members were elected, and it was decided to open the season on October 22. The New Plymouth Club's green will be officially opened on Thursday next. The green Is reported to be in better condliiuu than ever this year.
A meeting of the West End Bowling.« Club was held on Thursday evening, and it was decided to have the official opening on tho 23rd. Fivo new members were eleotedl The winter green will be open to summer players from now on, and members are invited to go along for practice. A cordial Invitation Is also extended to members of other clubs. The two greens are In splendid order and n successful season Is assured.
The green.of the Vogeltown Club Is looking very well, and members of this young club are looking forward to the opening of the season with a great deal of enthusiasm. On Thursday, a working bee was held, and a great deal of good work was accomplished. Fitzroy Club will probably be opening officially early in November. This. green, too, is In very fine order, and since last season several improvements have been made which add to the attractiveness of the property.
