L. Moore. Mr Moore succeeded Mr Alf. Gray as director of the Technical College. The hall was beautifully decorated with flags, hung on the walls and strung across the ceiling, while the stage was most artistically arranged with huge bowls of arum liilies and punga ferns. MARQUETTE VICTIM NEW ZEALAND NURSE. IN PITIABLE CONDITION IN RAND- ' WICK HOSPITAL. Additional hewß has been received in New Zealand of the pitia'ble condition of one of the victims of the disaster to the steamer Marquette, which had on board severSl New Zealand nurseH when she was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean. This lady is No. 22/66 Matron McNaughton Cameron, a .New Zealand nurse, who is suffering from her awful experiences in the dreadful disaster by which many brave women and men made the supreme sacrifice. In a recent issue of "Quick March," the official organ of the New Zealand returned soldiers, an appreciative article with the heading "Our Brave Sis. ters" appeared. This iu time reached the military hospital at Randwick, and from* that institution details have now been received in New Zealand stating that Matron Cameron, who was on tne Marquette when she was submarined, is an inmate; and that though she retains all her faculties, she is completely paralysed. "Everybody has sympathy and admiration for her," the writer proceeds; "she is so patient, so cheerful, so loving. She has indeed suffered so that others might be saved- She is the proud p«isessor of the Royal Red Cross in gold." As soon as th"i 3 information wa9 brought before the executive of the Wei- ■ linglton Returned .Soldiers' Association, it was decided to take some action to express the gratitude and apprecation of the association for the splendid services rendered by Matron Cameron and sympathy at her pitiable condition. Accordingly a communication has been dispatched to Randwick hospital expressing to the sufferer the sympathy of the association, the great admiration of her splendid work, and the earnest hope and prayer that she may in time be restored to health. ■ On behalf of the association Mr. R. J. F. Aldrich, the secretary, also forwarded the badge of the association, asking the recipient to honor the association by wearing it, also informing her that she had been elected a honorary life member of the Returned Soldiers' Association.
