The monthly meeting of the Stratford Domain Board was held last week, Mr. G. N. Curtis presiding. Mr. W. P. Kirkwood reported on the interview with the Minister of Lands, who, he said, had given an assurance that before any action is taken in regard to municipal control of domains consideration would be given to the board representation. The Minister had seemed favorable towards granting a permanent injunction against the removal of stone or gravel from the Patea River and the Paetihi Stream within the boundaries of King Edward Park, and promised to consider their request that if the Borough Council were given control of the domains they would be required to spend a certain amount annually on improvements. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Kirkwood, on the motion of Messrs Penn and Thompson. Mr. P. Thompson reported on the proposed improvements to a section in Page Street, which were to be undertaken by the Beautifying Society. Authority to proceed with the work was given. Mr. Fred. Dodd, employed at Masters' store, fractured his wrist while cranking a Ford car on Saturday.
