Smith gave notice to ask the Minister of Public Works if he will place a sum on this' year's Estimates to provi.de for the erection of suitable and up-to-date offices at New Plymouth for the Land and Survey, Public Trust, and Customs Departments, as the staff of these important State Departments are 1 now accommodated in old, obsolete, and Insanitary quarters known as tha "Government Buildings," which, by the present means of access, are inco6nvenient to the public, andj by their insanitary condition, are a menace to the health of the staff.
