The Kia Ora Tea Rooms last Wednesday night were the scene of a very jolly dance, the exceptionally large number present probably being accounted for by the additional attraction of the roof garden, while the many nooks in the building also made delightful sitting-out places. The dance was got up by a committee of girls, and the chaperones were Mesdames P. B. Fitzherbert, ,B. ' H Chaney, J. C. Johnstone, and' G. M. Fraser.
I MUSICAL EVENING. Last Thursday evening the members of the Returned Soldiers' Association entertained at a musical evening at the club the ladies who so willingly assisted in making their recent ball so successful. The billiard room, where the concert was held, was beautifully decorated with bamboo and arum lilies, while the two Anzac flags had a prominent place over one of the windows. During the evening, the chairman of the association (Mr. A. McDiarmid), in the absence of the president (Archdeacon Evans) thanked the ladies for their assistance, and said special mention was due to the organisation of Mrs. E. A. Walker and her lieutenant, Mrs. Claude Weston, also their executive, as without the help of these ladies and their committee the ball would not have been the success it was.
Mr. W. Okey (chairman of the ball committee) endorsed what Mr. McDiarmid said, and the boys then gave three cheers for the ladies. Regret was expressed by those present at Mrs. Walker's unavoidable absence, owing to ill-health. A* delightful supper was handed round by the boys, and the singing of "God Save the King" ended a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
