; MANGOREI. (From Our Own Correspondent). With more light coming as the days lengthen, and night-owls find less opportunity, many winter pastimes in our Hiding are nearing a finish. On the evening ot 26th, the final of a series of combined euchra parties and (lances eventuated at Kent Road school, and ivas a thoroughly successful culmination of exemplary and progressive honorary work put In by the Entertainment Committee of young men who had organised a tactful season of fortnightly programmes. Much wholesome and bracing social good has come about thereby to those of responsible iigo, whilst juveniles, excluded from sharing actively, aro to boneflt in turn through the financial proceeds being reserved for the exclusive advantages of tho Kent road school children. Such will be duly handed to the School Committee for that purpose. In tho unavoidable absence of Mr. J. Firth, chairman, Mr. H. Bartlett expressed his fellow-commit-teemen's thanks for the abiding constancy in which settlers of the district had brought genial spirit and jovial goodfellowshlp to the course of entertainments. Such support and recognition were encouraging and augured well lor continuance next winter. Tho euchre points prizes were awarded respectively to Mrs. Lethbrklge (lady's handbag), and Mr. Nelspn (shaving outfit). Much interest and contributory benefit arose from tho disposal of a choice) cake, Mr. G. Jordan claiming thd article. Special thanks were tendered to Mr. Shepherd, who presented the cake, and to Mr. A. J. Richards, who donated the gentleman's prize. Musical items were enhanced by songs from Miss 0. Davy, Mr. H. Davy and Mr. J. Austin, which, combined with dancing' and bright pleasantries imparted zeal to a "long night."
