The authorities at Dublin Castle obtained a copy of a proclamation alleged to be issued by the military authority of the Irish Republic, and placarded in County Clare and in some parts of County Cork, forbidding friendly relations with the police and military, and threatening offenders with punishment for high treason. The proclamation declares that fraternisation with the enemy cannot be tolerated, and punishment will be meted out to traitors—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
