BACON FACTORY GUTTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Carterton, Last Night. ' The Wairarapa Bacon Factory (Mr. R. Ray nor, proprietor), was totally de« stroyed by fire at noon to-day. The proprietor was absent at Maeterton a« the time. The employees had left for dinner about ten minutes, when the office was discovered in flames, and speedily the whole building was a mass of fire. Tie gale that was raging at the time made it impossible to save the etruoture* which was insured for £BOO in the Phoenix, the plant being, covered for £7OO in the same office. There is no explanation for the occurrence, The loss is severe.
