COAL OUTPUT IMPROVING*. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Oct. 1. There is an appreciable improvement in the output of the Kaitangata coal mine, but it is still much below normal. COURT OF INQUIRY. Wellington, Oct. 1. A Court of Inquiry has reported on the case of Private McCready, reported on August 5 by the Whakatane Courity Press, alleging gross neglect of a soldier while suffering from broken arms. The Court finds that McCready suffered the original injuries before entering military service, though these were aggravated during service by playing football in November, 1915. There is no evidence of neglect nor of disability beyond that due to the original injury McCready was a member of the wireless guard on the Awanui, and left in April. 1916. The official report says the complaint is an attempt to obtain a compensation or pension for injuries not received in the State's service.
