Mr. George Bell, of Victoria, 8.C., addressing a prohibition meeting at Toronto, said that the defeat of prohibition in New Zealand was brought about by the people's dislike to paying compensation. He predicted that when the vote was taken again in November, with the compensation clause eliminated, the victory for prohibition would be overwhelming.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
