TRADE WITH NEW ZEALAND, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyileht, Melbourne, Sept. 30. A meeting of merchants protested against the lack of shipping between Melbourne and New Zealand, and decided to co-operate with the Chamber of Commerce in order to secure redress. It was stated that there was 20,000 tons of cargo at Melbourne awaiting shipment.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. PRICE OF WHEAT. Melbourne, Sept. .10. The Farmers' Conference carried a motion that the price' of wheat sold within the Commonwealth should be not less than the export f.o.b. price. They also favored the continuation of the wheat pools, and decided to formulate a scheme whereby the system should gradually resolve itself into a growers' handling and selling association.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. SETTLING THE PROFITEER. Melbourne, Sept, 30. After the conference with State Premiers, Mr. Hughes said that the State Premiers had agreed to surrender certain powers to the Commonwealth to enabie Mr. Hughes to deal with profiteering. TEACHERS' UNION. Sydney, Sept. 30. The conference of school teachers decided to apply for registration under the Trades Union Act.
