' In the House of Representatives Mr Hugheß gave notice of motion of the introduction of a Bill to amend the Constitution. A referendum will probably be taken within two months of the passage of the Bill, and it is now generally assumed that general elections will be held on the same date. LOSS OF THE PAREORA." Adelaide, Sept. 27. The Marine Board found that the loss of the Pareora was due to careless navigation. GENERAL ALLENBY AND THE AUS- : ITALIANS. Sydney, Sept. 27. In connection with Mr Gullett'e cabled ' statement regarding General Allenby, ' the Herald publishes a message of General Allenby's supplied by General Ryrie, divisional commander of the Australian Light Horse which was ad- ' dressed to Mr Gullett for publication as official war correspondent. In it General Allenby eulogises the Light Horse's services in Palestine. He refers to the splendid physique of the Light Horseman and his restless activity of mind, and adds that this mental quality renders him somewhat impatient of rigid and formal discipline, but confers the gift of adaptability which is the secret of much of his success. On every variety of ground the Light Horseman prov- i ed equal to the best, and earned the < gratitude of the Empire atil the admiration of the world. , The Herald also publishes despatches : by commanders of> divisions stating that i the Australian arid New Zealand divi- ' sions had always been in the forefront i in the pursuit of the enemy : and responded to every call. :
