' N.Z. LOAND AND MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agoncy Co., Ltd., Haven branch, report as follows : At Kakararaea, on Monday, 22nd. Inst, we held our usual fortnightly dairy sale, when we offered an average yarding to a good attendance of buyers. Good springing belfers £ls to £2O, others £9 10s to £l2, dairy cows close up £23 19s. At Opunake, on the' same day, wo had » good yarding of stock which met with a ready sale. We quote as follows: Store cows. £6 to £8 15s, yearling heifers £2 17s »d, yearling steers £3, .lersey cross yearling heifers £5 to £J 15s. swinging belfers £l2 to £l4 ' 15s, backward and small sort* £7 to St. At Hanata, on Tuesday, waaner pigs made £1 19s to £2 4s, medium stores £3 Id, young bows in pig £5 l<h>, store cows £6 10s, springing heifers £lO 5s to £lO 10s. At Woverley, on Friday, we had a fair yard, lng, and report the following prices: Three and four-year bullocks (mixed colors) £l3 7s ' fld, 2-year empty heifers £6 4s, store cows £7 Is tn £7 3s 6d, 20-months steers (mixed colors) £5, hoggets £1 9s 3d. dairy cows £ls. At Palmer Road on the same day, cattle were penned in smaller numbers than usual, and we report fne following prteea: Fresh conditioned cows £9 18s to £ll lis, store cows £6 9s to £8 13s, yearling heifers £3 12s to £4 ss, yearling bulls £1 17s to £4 I 10s, weaner pigs £1 ss, springing heifers £lO to £l9. At Ngaere, on Wednesday, we held a successful cleaving sale on account of Mr. R. H Phillips, In conjunction with Mr. Nowton - Kins. High prices ruled throughout the J sale. Best dairy cows £3O to £4l, others ] £2O tn £27, best springing heifers made £lO ' to £24 9s, pedigree Jersey bull 27 guineas, | sow and littler £ls to £lB, medium store plgl £3 2s 6d to £3 7s Cd, boar £2 19s. GRADf AND PRODUCT. CHRISTCHURCH MARKET. 1 Christchurch, Sept. 26. There are no fresh developments In the local grain markets, which remain very quiet 1 and stagnant. The demand for clovers and grass seeds is about the same, and no altera- . tlons in prices have occurred. There seems : to be a distinct weakening In the potato market i during the past few days, and quit* a nura- . ber of sales are reported at about £8 10a to . £8 15s per ton. The lines handled are > certainly only small ones, but some growers 1 seemed disposed to quit their holdings at this < level.
