ELOPED WITH AN EX-CONVICT.
A girl's elopement with an ex-eonvict was mentioned at Warwick when sentence of three years' penal servitude was passed on Herbert Franklin. An extraordinary life of crime was revealed. It was stated that lie represented himself to be a major and wore uniform. He used stolen warrants to travel about the country with a Warwick girl who eloped with him.
prisoner admitted having committed thefts in several districts. At Manchester he obtained a motor car worth .CIWO by false pretences. Other offences were committed at Windsor, Crewe, and Bath; while big cheque {muds were committed in London. The warrant from Bath was for obtaining credit for .CIO from the proprietor of a hotel where lie stayed with the girl. He began his career by spending three years in a reformatory, and between 'ino7 and lfllo was convicted ten times for frauds and thefts .He also received a sentence of penal servitude at Chester.
