BOWLING.
MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the meeting of tho Council of the New Zealand Bowling Association, the sixth annual report stated that the membership of the Association consisted of 17 centres (8 North Island, 9 South Island), the total number of bowlers in tho Dominion being 11,488, an Increase of five clubs and 814 members. The total number of clubs was 225. The South African Bowling Association wrote Inviting ilio Association to aend representatives to take part in a series of matches tii be held at Pretoria during Easter of next year. Mr. Bamett said he had been endeavouring to organise a trip of New Zealand bowlers to the British Isles, but had got so little encouragement that he hnd dropped it. Jle moved that a reply be sent thanking the South African Association, but that the conditions at present were unfavorable to accepting the invitation, and that if it was possible to alter the dare to IS2I there would he a better chauce of Xew Zealand represented. The motion was agreed to. / It was decided to invest £l6O of the As. sociatlon's funds in Government War Loan certificates. It was also decided that members of the Council resident In Christchurch, should constitute the executive. Mr. Gray moved that the rules be amended to provide for the headquarters of the Association being permanently situated in Wei-, lington. In the course of discussion, Mr. I Nicholson (Dunedin), said that if the head-: quarters were fixed at Wellington It would be j the beginning of the end of the Dominion of | New Zealand Bowling Association. j Mr. Bush moved an amendment that the i question bo remitted to a meeting of representatives from oach centre, to be held during the tournament The amendment was negatived by 7 voles to 5, and tha motion was lost on the voices Mr. Gray moved a series of alterations te. the rules to provide that, members of the Council shall be elected by their respective centres. This was lost by 7to 5. N Z, BOWLING COUNCIL. Christchurch, La*t Night. Tho New Zealand Bowling Council decided to levy 3d per head for the next tournament at Christchurch which starts on January 5. The order of play was agreed to and it was decided that no trophy exceeding 5 guineas In value will be presented to any individual player at any tournament. It was resolved that the elections In connection with the council take place In the last week In July and that the rule debarring officials from acting on the council arid committee of a centre be rescinded, Notices of motion were glvon to Increase the council by two members and to increase tho levy.
