PLUNKET SOCIETY.
The New -Plymouth branch of the Plunket Society intend holding a ''Baby Day" street collection on Saturday, November 22. It had been hoped that arrangements for a "Dominion Baby Day" could have been made, but a letter was received from the Central Council stating that, as the arrival of Dr. Trubv King in the Dominion was so uncertain, permission would be given to any of the branches of the society to hold a Baby Day in each of their own districts. A letter has been sent to the Mayor asking permission to erect stalls in Devon Street for the purpose of selling produce, cakes, etc, when it is to be hoped that a substantial sum will be raised by this means to help the mothers and save the babies. The farmers and the schools in and around the 'North Taranaki district are to be asked to help in this worthy object. Donations ill cash will be gratefully received by the president (Mr. Walter Weston) or the secretary (Mrs. A. R. Standish).
