THE PRINCE OF WALES.
DOMINIONS' TROOPS PRAISED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Vancouver, Sept. 22. The Prince of Wales has completed his transcontinental tour. Unexampled itiUlmsiasm was shown at balls and pubi lie luncheons. Speaking at a luncheon at Vancouver tho Prince referred to General Botha's death as a blow to all Britishers, Ho anounced that he intended to repeat his visit to Canada. The first sight of the Pacific Ocean, on his arrival at Vancouver, had reminded him of the closeness of Australia and New Zealand, where, as in Canada, ho had many friends, made during the Great War. He hoped to visit these great countries. The query was how soon. He had felt quite at home in Canada, and knew he would feel the same, in Australia and New Zealand, where a great British civilisation was being built up under the Southern Cross. The glory won by the troops from these countries at Gallipoli would never fade and the Canadians who had fought alongside the Australasians knew their worth. A MEMORABLE INCIDENT RECALLED. Received Sept. 23, 5.5 p.m. Vancouver, Sept. 22. The Prince? added: "Those Canadians who fought side by side with the Australian troops east of Amiens on August 8 last year can never forget that that operation was one of those which shattered the whole German line south of the Somme, and began the victorious advance of all the British armies from France and Belgium into Germany. The combined attack by the Old Country and the Canadian and Australian divisions will always rank as one of the greatest feats of British arms. It represented in a very special way the strength which the British Empire draws from the unity of its self-governing democracies. I like to recall it in this Canadian city, where I stand at one of the great meeting • points of the British commonwealth.— Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
