KILLED WHILE MOTORING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Mastcrton, Yesterday. Late yesterday afternoon. W. J. Biggs, a motor upholsterer, of Masterton, was killed at Taratahi as the result of the motor car he was driving capsizing un the road, through a tyre bursting. Mrs. Biggs was injured internally, Kathleen Biggs, aged 12, had a collarbone broken, while four other of deceased's children received a severe shaking and minor injuries'. Mastcrton. Last Night. At the inquest on William J. Biggs, the victim of the motor accident, a verdict was returned that, he miit his death by misadventure, there being, no evidence to show there was incompetent driving. DEATH FROM CHRONIC ALCOHOLISM Dunrdin, Last Night. An inquest was opened to-day on the body of Frederick Cowan, who died in hospital on Sunday. Deceased was arrested on the 11th hist., charged with drunkenness, and remanded for seven days fur medical treatment. He was removed to the hospital on Saturday. Dr. Evans said deceased suffered from chronic alcoholism and bronchial asthma Deceased Was formerly engaged in clerical work at Trentham Camp, and had been drinking heavily since his discharge. The inquest was adjourned till Tuesday to secure evidence from Dr. Fitzgerald. HOCKEY PLAYERS INJURED. As the result of a motor ear accident at Coat Valley at an early hour oil Sunday morning, two Wanganui representative hockey players, Messrs Richard H. S. Saunders and Thomas Auld, were injured, the Chronicle reports. Dr. Robertson went out to the scene of the accident, and both men were removed to the district hospital. Mr. Saunders sustained a compound fracture of tlie leg, while Mr. Auld is suffering from general shock. The car capsized over a bank, and the other occupants escaped with a shaking. The Wanganui team was returning from Ivaponga, where they played the Taranaki representatives on Saturday.
