The financial results of Plunket Day were very satisfactory. At the various stalls the following amounts were taken: Produce (in charge of Mesdaines Grant and Boon and Miss Robson), £lO !is; flowers (Mpsdames McMillan and -J. 11. Thompson), £7 9s 6d; sweets (Mrs. S. Pitt and Miss Porritt), £5 Is fid; pareels (Mesdames Rutherfurd, King, and Howard), £9 2s. A sheep-guessing competition in charge of Mrs. Hoole realised £7 Bs. Competition resulted as follows: Sheep-guessing, Mr. W- Jones; cake,' Mrs. Middleton; box chocolates, Mrs. W. Harris; pot plant, Mr. J. H. Thompson; vase, Mrs. Cooper; bottle eau dc Cologne, Miss Laverty. Donations were received as follows: Mr. J. H. L. Stanford £2 2s, Mrs. J. B. Hine and Messrs. E. Rutherfurd, A. W. Budge, F. Gaffaney, J. Frederic, Mr. and Mrs. W. Kelly, and Mrs. Shrimpton £ll each, Mrs. J. McAllister 10s, Mrs. O'Reilly ss. Other amounts collected hy Nurse Wake were: Mrs. Evcrsfield £l, Mrs. Barry 2s 6d, Mrs. Lydington 2s 6d, Mrs. Schumacher £1 and Mrs. Gedge 8s 6d. Carting was done free by Mr. Trotter, and the Parish Hall Committee kindly lent chairs and forms. The Methodist Church choir, numbering about 40, visited the hosiptal on Sunday afternoon and provided an ex-1 eellent programme of vocal and instrumental items. It is the intention of Mr. C. p. Sole (the chairman of the Board), to invite other organisations to assist in giving pleasure to the inmates of the hospital in the same way. The choir, before leaving, was entertained by the matron and staff at afternoon tea. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Jackson and Mr. and Mrs.' H- Harrison have booked passages by the Maheno for Sydney and will be leaving on a holiday of two or three months on October 2. Mr. Jackson says he intends to visit Melbourne and Hohart as well as Sydney, also the Blue Mountains. He and Mr. Harrison ■will compete at shooting matches at Sydney and Melbourne. In these days of high cost of living it is a relief to find something to purchase at the old pre-war prices. ( Just now ladies will find at C. E. James', Broadway, Stratford, a display of Leather Hand Bags at tho old value. They are a special purchase, and are selling at one price, 7/0 each. What will give more pleasure to the family than Father's photograph? At McAllister's Studio, the most up to date in Taranaki, there is no delay and no fuss. Photographs are taken by appointment any time, day or night. Even an appointment is not essential. Just drop in, and surprise the family. ■>
