ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
Sportsmen in and around New Plymouth are now looking forward to the opening of the ashing season on October 1. Unfortunately, during the past two or three seasons the fisli have not been as plentiful as could have been desired, but it is hoped that the forthcoming season will show an improvement in this direction.
The society recently liberated a numbed of brown yearlings In the Walwakaiho River, and It was proposed to dose this stream for 12 months; but, after securing the best expert advice on the matter, the council abandoned the proposal. It is anticipated therefore, that, with all the rivers In the district available to anglers, aome «xcelleut sport should result.
