PHOSPHATE DISTRIBUTION. By Telegraph.—Preas Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, Sept. 19. Mr. Hughes, moving the first reading of the Nauru Bill in the House of Representatives, stated that Britain and Australia would each take 42 per cent, of the phosphate deposits, and New Zealand would get 16 per cent. The administration of the Island wotild be vested in an administrator, and the first administrator would be appointed by the Australian Government for a term of five years, all expenses being paid from the proceeds of the sale of phosphates. In addition to the administrator a board of three commissioners would be appointed, each Government selecting its own. Apart from Britain, Australia, and New Zealand, phosphates would not be supplied to any other country, except with the unanimous consent of the three commissioners.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
