Allen) said he did not see any objection to the extension. If the Treasury did not get all the money required by Sep*,' tember 24, the original date for the closing of the loan, he would consider the suggestion. Regarding the date of payment of the allotment, Sir J. Ward said he wished to ask for the information of intending subscribers, if persons who did not subscribe l»v September 24 would be free of punishment, provided they subscribed within a fortnight after. ' Members of the House were invited Dy the Welfare League to attend a meeting to hear an address from the president (Mr. C P. Skerrett), on the aims and platform of the League. ,The invitations were sent to members personally, ftnd ,' Ministers, ex-Minister.-s and Party Whips were not invited. It is understood that the president addressed the members on the advisability of forming a new party, without the aid of the present party leaders, and generally along the lines he has followed in hie other addresses. The members present, and there were a good number of them, asked questions, but, so far as can be learned, none of them committed themselves to any important upinions on the subjects traversed by Mr. Skerrett. MS. SIDEY DECIDES TO STAND AGAIN. ■Dunedin, Sept. 18. Yielding to pressure exerted on him, Mr. T. K. Sidey has decided to be a candidate for the Dunedin South seat at the general election.
