With a total of 14,300 persons on board, more than ever carried on any vessel before, the liner Leviathan arrived at Hoboken (N.Y.) recently after breaking her record for the round trip to Brest. She occupied 15 days 6 hours 4 minutes on the double voyage. The previous beat time was made «n tho preceding voyage, when she took 15 days 19 hours 3 minutes. On the two voyages she carried a total of 28,412 troops. The Leviathan was formerly the Ham-biirg-Amerika champion ship Vaterland. She is the biggest ship afloat, and is 807 ft long and 100 ft in beam, and has a tonnage of 54,282. She is also one of the fastest big merchant ships in the world, for her speed is over 24 knots.
