LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.

The executive committee of the North Taranakl Head Centre of the Royal Life-saving Society met on Wednesday evening, Mr. W. C. Weston (president), presiding. The resignation of Miss K. White was accepted with regret, and a resolution was carried recording her valuable service as a member of the society and wishing her every happi. ness in view of her approaching marriage. Mr. S 0. Smith, Ml*, treasurer of the cen're, forwarded a printed article on swimming issued by the New Zealand Amateur ( Swiniining Association —lt was decided to write asking for twenty copies with a view to distributing them among the schools. Mr Christiansen said the schools in North Tava.nafct should be notified to commence getting ready their life-saving teams to compete for'the Hughes Clip, which will be competed for in February or March nest.—A committee consisting of Messrs. Christiansen, Wathieson and McKinney was apnninted to prepare circulars setting out !he rules and commands, and to make a recommendation as to the dates for tin: competition. The president suggested that Mr. Christiansen and lie should wait, upon the schools In town to urge them to organise swimming ami 1 life-saving classes —Mr. Mathieson said that: the school classes had become disorganised | last year.—The suggestion was agreed to.
