HOLY TRINITY CHURCH.
SUCCESSFUL SALE OP WORK AT TE HENUI. A most successful sale of work was held in the schoolroom of Holy Trinity Church, Te Henui, yesterday afternoon and evening. The stalls were tastefully and artistically arranged, and the burden of attractive goods under which they groaned before the sale commenced was wonderfully eloquent of the time and energy spent by those upon whom the work of preparation had principally fallen. The sale was opened by the Ven. Archdeacon Evans, who, in a happy speech, congratulated the ladies on the excellent display made, expressing the thanks of those responsible for help received from friends in town and hope? for a good sale.
Throughout the afternoon and evening; there were record crowds present, and takings for the day amounted to £9O. After paying all expenses, it is expected there will be a net profit of £BO, which will be divided equally between the Back Blocks Mission Fund and the Parish Vicarage Fund. Following are the names of the stallholders:—Plain work: Mesdames H. Street, Foote, and Ramson. Fancy work: Miss Heppell and the girls of the parish. Produce: Mesdames Griffin, Addenbrooke, Fairhall, and Sladden. Flowers and Sweets: Misses Cutfield (2), Whitcombe, and Harding. Afternoon tea: Mesdames Rennell, Gibson, A. Waters, and Fox, and a large number of assistants.
