' Received Sept. 10, 10."1 p.m. London, Sept. 15, At the wool sales 10,525 hales were offered, whereof 10,1)00 were New Zeakind. There was a good attendance, including several Americans. There was a largely increased number of Continental buyers. The selection was below the average. For Merinos there was a fair ottering. Mixed and Irregular parcels were stronger. There was more general competition for all sorts. The Continent operated keenly. A few lots were sold to the United States. For all wools suitable for coming, whether free or faulty, there was a keen demand, prices showing about 7.12 per cent, advance over August. Faulty, short, and carbonising sorts, wero firm at lato rates. For crossbreds, good and greasy parcels, there was an eager demand, at 5 per cent, advance. Slipes and seoureds wero very linn. 4 Lambs and merinos were scare. There was a fair selection of crossbreds, showing a 5 per cent, improvement. Tho cattle were a tirst-elass lot of Jersey cross cows and heifers, in good condition, about a third of the herd being in milk., There was spirited competition throughout, high prices ruled ami ; wo had a successful sale. Tho dairy cows averaged £22 lis Gd, and an average of i £2l 14s was obtained for the heifers. Dairy cows brought from £23 to £32, a few agoil and faulty cows £ls to £l7, best 2 to 2% j year heifers, in milk, £2O 10s to £4O, medium quality ditto £lfl to £25 ss, small 2-year-old ditto £l4 to £lB, good 2 to 2Vj-year-old springing heifers £23 10s to £27, medium ditto £lB 10s to £22 10s, small and backward 2-year ditto £IH 10s to £lB. A large amount of stock is changing hands privately and there is a fairly gpod inquiry for practically all classes of sheep and cattle. Fat stock are in keen demand, but supplies are rather limited.
