OVER 62 MILLIONS TO MARCH. ♦ INTERESTING PARTICULARS. >' j (By Wire.—Own Correspondent) Wellington, LastNigfat. 1 The report, of the Auditor-GensnJ on the Public Account for the year ended* March 31, 1019, stales that up to tt»t date a total sum oi £(13,460,000 bad been' raised for war purposes, involving the issue of more than'oß,ooo bonds. Pro-; vision is being made for the audit of the stores accounts, and every effort it being made to bring the audits of thr departmental accounts up to date. Experienced members of the staff are being released by demobilisation, and the Auditor-General hopes to be able to declare in his next report that all account* are up-to-date.-The accounts presented to Parliament show that the Dominion's war expenditure up to March 31st last, totalled ' £62,638,720. ! Payments to the War Office on a per > capita basis for the maintenance of New Zealand troops in the field amounted to £15,735,000. Rations in New Zealand, Britain, Egypt, and Samoa cost *£2,118,811. * The transport of troopi cost £6.061,418. This included a «ou of £4,846,007 for the charter, conditioning, find re-conditioning, etc., of transport* under charter to the New Zealand Government. The charges and expenses of raising loans amounted to £858,748. The «• penditure on equipment totalled £4,331,640. The hospital ship Mahtno cost £485,900, and . the £507,900. Pay and allowances accounted for an expenditure of £25,304,234.
